An integrated framework for the measurement of halal good manufacturing practices on the case of SMEs in the food sector

Purpose Nowadays, the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in Indonesia with product’s need for halal certification is limited. The purpose of this paper to measure integrated framework Halal Practices (HGMP) small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) discover effect its performance food sector. Design/methodology/approach This research conducted focus group discussion 2 locations 8 experts 73 SMEs sector at Indonesian Government agencies. Findings study indicated 6 variables 40 indicators on HGMP implementation each agency. Two agencies were categorized as poor, which increase HGMP. For SMEs’ business process policy, there significantly different building, employee, storage maintenance. Research limitations/implications examined based government regulation. It has not been thoroughly tested consumer responses. Furthermore, it can consider satisfaction GMP. Practical implications guide achieve quality standards. Originality/value provides an measuring guided by Government’s agency meeting standard products.
